Imagination Dialogue: INDIVISIBLE

The Imagination Dialogue series returns with an engaging discussion about the intersection of art and science! Sharad Kharé led the discussion as moderator during the live event, alongside special guests Dr. Monika Stachura and Dr. Laura Marks. Below you can watch the entire panel discussion as well as see a glimpse of the extraordinary exhibition that was displayed at the New Media Gallery.

The Swiss Innovation FEST in Vancouver was launched in spring 2022 by the Consulate General of Switzerland, in collaboration with ISM Arts & Culture and international and local partners. The aim of the festival was to bring together organizations and audiences from science, tech, arts, industry, and communities around innovation. The closing event took place in early August at the New Media Gallery in collaboration with Human Biography.

This summer, New Media Gallery curated the exhibition “Indivisible”, presenting art installations from five artists including former Arts at CERN residents. In the framework of this exhibition, the conversation "Imagination Dialogue" took place. A crowd of scientists, academics and artists from various Vancouver institutions gathered at New Media Gallery to listen to a conversation between Dr. Monika Stachura from TRIUMF, one of the main partners of the Innovation FEST, art academic and artist Dr. Laura Marks from SFU, and moderator Sharad Kharé from Human Biography.

The conversation started with the panelists' first impressions of the exhibition and explored how scientists and artists approach a piece of art. This led to a discussion about the work of the two panelists and how similar this can be. The conversation is a beautiful tribute to the interaction between science and art and how the merging of these two pushes the boundaries of our knowledge and understanding.
